About the project

Completed in 2019, Marsden Brewhouse in Marsden Park NSW, is one of Australia’s most expressive and adventurous entertainment venues. An expansive dining complex equipped with state-of-the-art curtain wall systems and glazing tech, the Brewhouse offers patrons the chance to sip hand-crafted brews in an inimitable setting – and with double-glazed comfort for all weather conditions. The split-level design maximises natural daylight, flooding into all public areas, as well as into the brewery itself.

The first thing you notice about Marsden Brewhouse is the scale. The building simply has massive amounts of floorspace – 5,900m2 of family dining, bar, gaming and conference space, according to builders FDC Construction. The adjoining conference and function centre holds up to 400 guests in supreme comfort, where they can dine on hearty fare ranging from woodfired pizza to char-grilled steak.

The Capral products used throughout the Marsden Brewhouse have been chosen for comfort and light transmission, two values which dramatically converge here. Capral Artisan Folding Doors and AGS 225 Series Doors feature extensively, opening the space right up while keeping patrons in comfort year-round.

The Capral Artisan Folding Doors remain resilient when fully exposed to all weather conditions, while being fully compliant with AS 1428 disabled access regulations. The doors are seamlessly complemented by Capral AGS 419 Flushline and Capral AGS 400 Narrowline framing suites running along the Brewhouse facade.

But the glazed expanses within the dining area are just a taster. The real centrepiece surrounds the brewery.

Patrons who ascend the sandstone steps of Marsden Brewhouse will be stunned by the massive glass cube dominating the profile. Instead of concealing the building’s functional core from the public, the architect has chosen to swathe it in an expansive glazed atrium, securely framed with Capral’s St Kilda suite, fitted to steel, creating the curtain wall.

Capacious by any standards, the craft brewery encapsulated by this glazed structure features 20 separate fermenters capable of producing an output of 10–15,000 barrels annually.

The atrium’s scale and design required a framing system with unrivalled strength. As pointed out by Arch System Fabrication: ‘The products proved perfect for this challenging task – including the colossal seven-metre Capral St Kilda suite fitted to the steel structure to create a curtain wall encasing the substantial brewery.’

The performance and function of the Capral products is complimented with the specification of Viridian ComfortPlus™, in both single and double-glazed applications. In its perfect melding of framing and advanced glazing technology, the Marsden Brewhouse showcases the possibilities of what can be created when form and function are seen as two sides of the same coin – all in the service of providing patrons with the perfect dining and drinking experience in unequalled comfort.

Arch System Fabrication were awarded Best Use of Windows and Doors – Commercial over $50,000 for the Marsden Brewhouse project in 2019.
