We’re thrilled to announce that Michelle Wielemaker, Capral’s National Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, has been named a winner of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 2021 Women in Supply Chain award.

The Women in Supply Chain award honors female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship and examples set a foundation for women in all levels of a company’s supply chain network and we couldn’t think of anyone who fits this description better than Michelle.

In a male dominated industry, Michelle is passionate about being a positive role model for women who seek careers as supply chain executives.

With two decades of experience, Michelle learned the supply chain profession from the ground up. During this time, she scored improvements in service levels, reduced inventory, and has shown the ability to adapt to changing business demands.

Michelle believes that the supply chain is a vital part of a company’s strategy. Because of this, she has worked to ensure supply chain resources become an input to all key business decisions at Capral.

Through her ability to coordinate with teams across the business, Michelle was able to ensure Capral reduced our overall inventory holdings by 15 to 20 percent while also decreasing stockouts to the low single digits.

Part of why Michelle’s career has been so successful is because she understands the importance of diversity in the workplace and is always open to new ideas. In a role as complex and business-critical as the supply chain, every perspective can help the team get to the best overall solution.

When hit with a raft of delays caused by COVID, Michelle led her team in responding to challenges in ways that protected Capral’s supply chain. By finding alternate sources of materials, negotiating with suppliers to reserve capacity, and leveraging longstanding relationships with suppliers, Michelle helped ensure Capral would maintain its ability to meet customer needs.

Congratulations to Michelle on this fantastic and well-deserved achievement, and well done to all finalists for helping shape the future of the supply chain profession.
